Voters passed Proposition 3 Tuesday, which will provide $980 million to children’s hospitals statewide. Proposition 3 passed with 61.8% approval.
Locally, Long Beach’s own Miller Children’s Hospital could apply for as much as $98 million in funds made available by the passage of Prop 3, which hospital administration plans to use to complete construction on a brand new building and improve services with a new Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit and other upgrades.
Miller received $74 million from the passage of Prop 61 in 2004, which allowed the hospital to begin massive construction and improvement plans. Funds from Prop 3 will help the hospital complete those plans.
Miller administration has said previously that necessary improvements would not have been possible without the passage of Prop 3.
