Vaccine and testing clinics at Long Beach City College’s Pacific Coast Campus and Veterans Stadium will be closed tomorrow and Friday, Dec. 24 due to forecasted rain, the city announced Wednesday evening. LBCC, however, will be moving their operations indoors.

Forecasters this week predicted stormy weather leading into Christmas, with rain expected Wednesday, Thursday, then again on Saturday and possibly Sunday. Since these sites are located outdoors, they cannot operate while it is raining.

“Vaccine appointments scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 23, at Pacific Coast Campus have been moved to Houghton Park Community Center,” according to the statement. “Those with vaccine appointments will be notified via email and phone. Those with testing appointments at Pacific Coast Campus or Veterans Stadium will be contacted via email for rescheduling.”

These are the modified vaccine and testing schedule for Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24:

All city vaccine and testing sites will also be closed for the holidays Saturday, Dec. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

Health officials continue to urge everyone to get vaccinated and boosted if eligible as Omicron variant cases surge across the Los Angeles County.

Long Beach on Tuesday reported 403 new COVID-19 cases, the highest three day total since September and more than double from a week ago. Two deaths were also reported.

In Long Beach, more than 77% of residents ages 5 and up have received at least one dose. Those 16 and older are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 booster shot six months after they’ve received their second dose.
