Yesterday’s decision by the California Supreme Court to uphold Proposition 8 – essentially approving the legality of the vote that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman – drew thousands of opponents to a march down Broadway that ended with a rally at the Bixby Bandshell last night.

The march and rally were akin to similar events that took place in a much larger demonstration in early November, after many were shocked that Proposition 8 was approved by California voters.  That night, marchers continued down Broadway until they were met by officers in riot gear and were turned around.  According to the Press-Telegram, last night’s rally attracted between 1,000 (from the Police Department) and 1,500 (from organizers.
