alanlowenthalFresh off his appointment to the House Foreign Affairs Committee this past December, Representative Alan Lowenthal will also serve as the newest member of the House Committee on Natural Resources (HCNR).

Proclaiming himself as both a “champion and defender of the environment,” the 71-year-old congressman will help the committee oversee its twenty jurisdictions, which range from mineral resources and mining to petroleum conservation on public lands and control over the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline.

“I am excited about bringing that track record to bear to address the numerous environmental and natural resource issues facing this nation,” Lowenthal said in a statement. “The world we create in this generation is the world we leave to the next. I want to make sure that what we leave to our children is a better world.”
