12:45pm | Rep. Laura Richardson, D-Long Beach, will host her annual Senior Briefing Luncheon this Friday, May 20.

The congresswoman will lunch with roughly 1,000 senior citizens from the 37th Congressional District at the event and share valuable information with them on matters of interest to constituents in their age group.

The briefing will be held at the Juanita Millender-McDonald Center, 801 E. Carson St., in Carson. The four-hour event will begin at 10 a.m. and come to a close at about 2 p.m., according to information provided by staffers in Richardson’s district office in Long Beach.

Last year’s event drew an overflow crowd of more than 1,000 seniors attended the informative briefing, which focuses on senior needs and how new and existing federal legislation could impact their lives.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in song and dance activities and will be treated to a full-course lunch. Prizes and scholarships to local universities will be up for grabs, as well.

The 37th Congressional District includes several unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County including Watts-Willowbrook, portions of the city of Los Angeles as well as the cities of Carson, Compton, Long Beach and Signal Hill.
