In what appears to be a starkly positive project in comparison to the pejorative nature of the “Funeral for the Death of Education” event, the latter of which is having its second outing at Long Beach City College’s Pacific Coast Campus, interns from the Miguel Contreras Foundation are hosting a “Revival of Education” voter drive with a simple message: the only way to better education and the legislation geared towards it is getting students registered to vote.

The target population — LBCC students and its various community members — will be approached to register this Wednesday from 9:00am to 1:30pm on the same campus as the “Death” procession. Organizer Chris Covington stated, “Our message will be to counter the ‘death of education’ despair with a positive message that voting is truly the Revival of Education. We will make it a point to highlight that registering students to vote is the best way to save education. We also want to encourage students to become permanent absentee voters.”
