The City of Long Beach will begin work this week on a pavement rehabilitation project along Wardlow Road between Long Beach Boulevard and Cherry Avenue. The work will include resurfacing the pavement; replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, sidewalks; reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement; installing pavement markers, bus pads, markings, traffic striping, signing and curb paint; and trimming trees and shaving roots.
An estimated 12,960 tires will be recycled into rubberized asphalt for this project. In addition, all the old asphalt material will be recycled into new asphalt or utilized as base material on other street projects. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July, baring any weather delays. The $1,642,078 project will be financed primarily with Proposition C funds.
Traffic control will be in place to provide safety for motorists and workers. Lane closures will be required during construction, and while the roads will stay open during working hours, motorists can expect some traffic delays. Therefore, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible.
