With April 15th quickly approaching, Congresswoman Laura Richardson and Councilman Dee Andrews spoke yesterday to highlight local services that help residents with their taxes, and reminded them that they may be eligible for rebate checks for simply filing tax returns.
“Many eligible individuals live right here in the 6th District and we want to make sure they know that they have to file a tax return form with the IRS to get this money,” read a statement from Andrews, in a press release following the event. “We also want to make sure that they know there is a free service right here at the Center for Working Families to help them.”
Richardson brought attention to the efforts of Broad Spectrum, CDC, which offers free tax return services at 1900 Atlantic Blvd., headquarters of the Pacific Gateways Workforce Investment Network’s Center for Working Families, calling the service “a critical resource.”
This year, many people who are not normally required to file a tax return are eligible for the rebate checks, but must file a return to receive them. Call (800) 829-1040 to learn more about the Economic Stimulus Package or read more about it here.
