7:35pm | Councilman Steven Neal and a host of partners will hold a health fair this weekend specifically targeting Long Beach youth.

The Healthy Kids and Teens Day Health Fair will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ramona Park, 3301 E. 65th Street.

The event will feature games, prizes and entertainment as well as free health screenings and valuable health education for the city’s youth.

“The health and wellness of our youth is a high priority for North Long Beach,” Neal said in a statement. “This Saturday, you won’t find a better reason to bring the kids out the house.”

Specifically offered will be information on childhood obesity prevention, finger printing, immunizations, lead testing, asthma education, low-cost insurance information, HIV testing and AIDS awareness information, drug and alcohol prevention information and mentoring programs, according to information provided by Neal’s office.

Physical fitness demonstrations, such as aerobics, hip-hop dancing and how to properly lift weights, will round out the event.

Partnering with Neal to offer the event are British Petroleum, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, St. Mary Medical Center, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department and the Long Beach Health and Human Services Department’s Center for Families and Youth.
