8:15am | The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced a temporary change to its Metro Blue Line service schedule in Long Beach this weekend.
Due to scheduled tree-trimming work along the light-rail train’s route by the city of Long Beach, Metro is replacing Blue Line service through much of Long Beach with bus service, and riders are being advised to expect delays.
Beginning tonight, Friday, July 22, at 9 p.m., trains will not run between the downtown Long Beach Transit Mall and Wardlow Station through Sunday, July 24, at 2 a.m. Beginning Sunday at 4 a.m., trains will not run between the Transit Mall and Willow Station through Monday, July 25, at 2 a.m.
A bus shuttle service will run between each station from the Transit Mall to Wardlow and Willow stations throughout the duration of the Blue Line closures. Those stations include First Street, Fifth Street, Anaheim Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
According to Metro, the rest of the line from Wardlow or Willow stations to downtown Los Angeles will run every 15 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes at night.
Riders using the Blue Line this weekend should plan for at least 30 additional minutes of travel time, Metro officials said.
