Police found and arrested a man hiding inside of a dumpster after he shot a person on Sunday, Long Beach police said.
At around 11 a.m., authorities found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body at Scott Street and Long Beach Boulevard in North Long Beach, police said.
Officers found the suspect, who had fled the area on foot, hiding in a dumpster near the crime scene, police said. Officers then established a perimeter, and “began to de-escalate the situation” and call out the suspect, police said. The suspect eventually surrendered and was arrested, police said. Officers found and seized a firearm in the dumpster.
Ronnie Ray Garcia, 29, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm on a person, police said. His bail was set at $1 million.
No other injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
