2:00pm | A 21-year old man is dead after a west Long Beach shooting last night.
The shooting took place near the 2300 block of Delta Avenue, in a residential neighborhood directly adjacent to Garfield Elementary on Delta and W. 23rd Street. The Long Beach Police Department received a “Shots fired” call around 9:40pm on Sunday evening
They arrived to find Long Beach resident Dennis Seagraves, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso as an adult male suspect fled eastbound on Burnett Street in a vehicle. Officers and Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded to the call and rushed Seagraves to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
UPDATE 4:30pm | Long Beach Unified School District records show that Seagraves attended school locally at a very young age and eventually spent three years at Cabrillo High, and then the 2007-08 school year at nearby Reid Continuation. The records did not show that he had graduated, according to LBUSD spokesperson Chris Eftychiou.
