Police are investigating an overnight shooting near Houghton Park in North Long Beach that left two men injured.
Officers responded just before midnight to a local hospital where two men had arrived with gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department, who said they are expected to survive.
Police later learned that the two men were outside in the 6300 block of Myrtle Avenue when they were approached by two other men, authorities said.
An argument began between them, and the suspects shot the victims, police said. It’s unclear what sparked the argument or whether the shooters and the victims knew each other.
Everyone involved in the shooting fled the scene before officers arrived, including the victims, who transported themselves to the hospital, authorities said.
At the scene of the shooting, officers located evidence of the shooting such as bullet casings, police said.
