The pilot of a small plane made a successful emergency landing on the sand in Seal Beach today.
Police were called at 12:38 p.m. about the Cessna 152’s landing near the Eighth Street municipal parking lot, according to Seal Beach police Lt. Nick Nicholas. The plane landed after “experiencing apparent engine trouble,” Nicholas said.
The plane’s two occupants escaped injury and no one on the beach was hurt, he said.
“It was a really nice landing,” and there was no apparent damage to the plane, Nicholas said.
The single-engine Cessna departed from Torrance Municipal Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The registered owner of the plane is First Western Aviation LLC.
