Smoke from nearby wildfires in Brea, Corona and Rancho Palos Verdes filled the air Saturday. Ash continues to fall on Long Beach and the sky has been filled with striking orange hues. From atop Signal Hill, the fires’ origination points are clearly visible, flooding the sky with dense smoke. Bright blue air over the Pacific Ocean created strange effects. More information and pictures are to come.
The LA Times is reporting that the Palos Verdes fire began this morning and has been extinguished, while other fires have no been so quick to die. Portions of the 57 and 91 freeways have been closed and many homes have been lost as firefighters attempt to contain the blazes.
