Community officials, businesses and a homegrown Grammy-nominated artist teamed up on Monday to serve lunch and dinner to hundreds of Long Beach residents at the “Serving With A Thankful Heart” banquet at Ernest S. McBride Park.  Long Beach’s own Calvin Broadus (aka Snoop Dogg) and his wife, Shante, manned the food station as honored guests.

“Shante and I had a blast comin’ out to our old stomping grounds and givin’ back to the community,” Snoop Dogg said in a released statement.  “It was great seeing people that we grew up with, as well as having fun giving back to where we came from.  You don’t know where you are going unless you know where you are from and we both from Long Beach, ya dig?!?”

Snoop brought the desserts from Cold Stone Creamery, while the main courses were provided by Hilton and Hyatt Hotels of Long Beach.

“The Long Beach Hilton and Hyatt cooked a 5-star meal for a first class community,” said Dee Andrews, Long Beach 6th District City Councilmember, in the release. “We served over 700 people today thanks in part to our partners Hilton and Hyatt Hotels of Long Beach, and Snoop Dogg, long time Central Area Resident provided dessert by Cold Stone Creamery.”
