11:30am | In 2009, some violent crime statistics rose in Long Beach over the previous year, according to data released by the FBI yesterday.

While violent crimes were down across the nation in 2009, Long Beach saw increases in five of the ten categories included in the report, entitled Crime In The United State 2009. Incidents of Violent Crime, Forcible Rape, Aggravated Assault, Burglary and Larceny Theft all rose in 2009 compared to 2008 statistics.

Incidents of Murder and Nonnegligent Manslaughter, Robbery, Property Crime, Motor Vehicle Theft and Arson either remained constant or decreased, according to the report. Listed below are the ten categories with statistics from 2008 and 2009.
