The shipping containers for SteelCraft in Bixby Knolls, a food court concept officially announced nearly a year ago in November, were delivered to their home in Long Beach on Monday.


A few changes have been made as far as the original list of vendors is concerned, with LB Cup Ramen Bar, Seabirds Kitchen and Long Beach Farms no longer on the list.

Now Los Angeles-based Pitfire Artisan Pizza is set to open its 10th location at SteelCraft and San Diego-based Ramen establishment Tajima will also set up shop.

LB Cup Ramen Bar posted in April that they will continue doing pop-ups as they look for another space to set up their operation.

According to the Seabirds Kitchen Instagram, the Orange County-based vegan food truck-turned-restaurant still has plans to open up shop in Long Beach, and are looking for investors to make that delicious decision a reality.


The plant-based food aficionados have signed a lease for a space on 4th Street across the street from the McDonald’s and are expecting to open in January of next year.

Executive Director of the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association (BKBIA) Blair Cohn also told the Long Beach Post that while Long Beach Farms is out, a farm stand may still be in the works for SteelCraft down the road.

Working Class Kitchen, Steelhead Coffee, Waffle Love and Smog City Brewing are still SteelCraft ready. Now that the containers have been placed, it’s a matter of hooking up utilities, adding final adjustments to structures, installing awnings, pouring concrete for parking spaces and adding graphics and signage to the containers.

SteelCraft is now projected to open in late September.
