The above photo was sent in by lbpost.com reader Tim Bulone, who happened to be on the Long Beach shore this morning as storms out at sea sent waves hurtling into the breakwater.  They were visibly crashing into (and over) the rocks, a sign of the storm’s strength and a spectacular sight.

The storm has hit all of Southern California hard, causing the closing of the I-5 and prompting flash flood warnings.  More rain is expected tonight.

Officers from the Long Beach Police Department and Fire Department expressed that several streets were flooded, but LBPD spokesperson Dina Zapalski said in a voice message that nothing out of the ordinary has occured.  Some intersections have experienced light flooding, however there have been no major problems.

“Nothing that we have any concerns about,” Zapalski said.
