Temporary waste management workers are being trained so that collection services can resume as soon as possible for Long Beach residents, as Waste Management, Inc workers remain on strike. The delay will last until at least Thursday, and possibly longer.
“While the delay for training may cause some minor inconveniences for residents, we need to ensure the safe and efficient collection of recyclables throughout the City of Long Beach,” said Jim Kuhl, Manager, Environmental Services Bureau.
Residents should wait until further notice to put out their purple recycling bins, and collect overflow recyclables in bags while waiting. Service will resume as soon as emergency training is completed.
