A person is in custody after a standoff with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in North Long Beach, authorities said.

Few details were available from officials, but reports of a barricaded person Thursday afternoon came after LASD deputies responded to the 2600 block of 68th Street in Long Beach’s McKinley neighborhood near the border of Paramount.

A sheriff’s spokesperson said that the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the agency’s equivalent of a SWAT team, was deployed to where a suspect had committed a crime had fled.

What that crime was and where it was allegedly committed was not immediately known as the spokesperson said details were still being gathered. The spokesperson said that a crime had occurred in the department’s service area and the suspect fled to the location in Long Beach.

No further details were provided about the suspect.
