Former Cal State Chancellor Charles B. Reed Dies at 75

Former California State University (CSU) system Chancellor Charles B. Reed died today at 75, the CSU system announced today. Reed served as the system’s sixth chancellor, from 1998 to 2012, when he was succeeded by Chancellor Timothy White, after leading the system through the Great Recession.

CFA Announces Planned Strike for April Across State, Including Walkout at Cal State Long Beach

The California Faculty Association (CFA) today announced its plans to carry out a five-day strike in April, if a deal with the California State University system is not reached before then. A Cal State Long Beach professor described the “intransigence” of the CSU’s stance toward a five percent raise for faculty as creating a “Wal-Mart-like” university system.
