A man crossing the street in Downtown Long Beach was hit and killed by a driver fleeing from officers after a burglary last night, police said.

A short pursuit came to a dramatic end when a sheriff’s cruiser spun out a suspect’s vehicle on the 605 Freeway in the Long Beach area.
He eventually jumped out of the moving car and went into the home, where he was found hiding in the attic, prosecutors said.
The chase, which began about 6 a.m., went from the 91 Freeway to the southbound 710 Freeway and onto westbound Ocean Boulevard and into San Pedro.
After the crash, the driver tried to run, but officers were able to catch him, police said.
The pursuit began after officers attempted to pull over a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred about 6:30 p.m. and did not result in any injuries.
