A man who allegedly shot and killed another man in Long Beach was taken into custody in Temecula, police said today.

The crime occurred about 12:10 a.m. May 8 in the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Tyrone Parks III, 28, of Long Beach died at the scene, police said.

“Through their investigation, homicide detectives identified Xabian Che Brown, a 29-year-old resident of Temecula, as the suspect,” police said in a statement.

Brown was arrested on Wednesday in Temecula by Special Investigation Division detectives, and he was transported to the Long Beach City Jail. He was booked on suspicion of murder, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and being an ex-felon in possession of ammunition. Bail was set at $2 million, police said.

“Detectives determined the victim and suspect were known to each other and engaged in a dispute that resulted in the shooting,” police said. “However, the motive is still under investigation.”

Detectives plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
