With the official start of summer just weeks away, Long Beach is poised to enter into agreements with food vendors to operate at three of its beach concession stands starting in July.

The Long Beach City Council could approve agreements for the stands at Bayshore, Mother’s and Junipero Beach Tuesday night as well as a contract with Pedal Movement to operate bike rental stations along the city’s coastline.

The proposed vendor for Bayshore Beach is Grill ‘em All, a metal-themed burger joint in Alhambra that gained notoriety as a food truck featured on Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race. Grill ‘em All would serve gourmet burgers, fries and craft beer, according to a city memo.

The Junipero location, one of three concession stands that the city recently refurbished, is set to be operated by Saltwater Deck, which will serve grass-fed beef burgers, wraps, frozen yogurt and breakfast burritos.

The Mother’s Beach concession stand will be operated by Louisiana Charlie’s, which has another location in Shoreline Village. Louisiana Charlie’s would also serve burgers and hot dogs but offer other options like pulled pork sandwiches, ceviche and vegan tacos.

All of the contracts would start July 1, if approved, and all but the Junipero location would be under five-year contracts. The Junipero location is being proposed as a three-year contract.

Vendors for the Granada Beach and Alamitos Beach stands have yet to be announced. The Alamitos Beach location, a $9 million, two-story structure that is located at the former Alfredos Beach Club site behind the Villa Riviera, is not expected to open this summer.

However, when construction is completed, bike rentals will be provided by Pedal Movement, which operates the city’s bikeshare program. Pedal Movement would also have a five-year contract if approved by the council Tuesday.

Rents paid to the city by the vendors are expected to generate about $88,000 in the first year of operations, according to the memo. Each vendor will be able to renew their contracts for the same term once the existing one expires.
