After the last two announced visits were unceremoniously canceled, fighter jets are once again expected to majestically—and loudly—fly through the skies above Long Beach this weekend.

Four U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 combat jets will arrive at Long Beach Airport today, officials announced this morning. After planned operations, the aircraft are expected to depart Monday morning.

All times are tentative and subject to change without notice, according to the announcement. Similar operations in March and earlier this month were canceled.

The city noted the jets are “noticeably louder” than other craft that utilize the airport but are exempt from the municipal airport’s noise regulations. The aircraft are expected to modify arrival and departure flight profiles and minimize use of afterburners to abate noise as much as possible.
