Three Long Beach Residents were killed in a fatal crash on Saturday morning on the westbound 91 freeway near Pioneer Boulevard, authorities reported.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Stephen Brandt, a driver in a Jeep rear-ended a gas tanker, leading to a three-vehicle crash that left him and his two children dead at around 1:05AM Saturday morning.
The victims were identified as Lavell Mann, 33, Legend Mann, a 9-month-old boy and Logan Mann, a 3-year-old girl, said Los Angeles County coroner’s Lt. Dave Smith.
All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County fire officials, according to Brandt.
Mann was speeding in a 2015 Jeep that rear-ended a 2010 Peterbuilt gas tanker, causing the Jeep to strike the concrete median wall. The Jeep overturned in the carpool lane, landing on its roof, the CHP reported.
A 2012 BMW with two occupants then struck the Jeep. The driver of the BMW, a 34-year-old woman and passenger, a 6-year-old girl, who both suffered major injuries were transported to the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
The driver of the gas tanker was not injured, authorities said.
