Brace yourself: flash floods and torrents of mud and debris flowing from slopes of inner Los Angeles County are expected to hit the Southland tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
We’ve officially hit winter weather.
Particularly in Los Angeles County, light rain is expected to start falling late this morning or early afternoon before intensifying and “coming through hard,” according to NWS meteorologist Curt Kaplan. He called the storm a “pretty good rainmaker.”
The storm is also expected to be very wet because embedded in it is a subtropical band of moisture from Hawaii, forecasters said.
“Strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers,” warned an NWS statement. “Winds this strong may down trees and power lines and cause property damage.”
