A comedy club in Los Angeles will hold a benefit show tonight to raise funds for the Haitian American Food Bank, a Long Beach non-profit organization that collects food, medicine and clothing and independently transports them to those in need after the January earthquake that devastated much of Haiti.
The show begins at 7:30pm tonight and tickets are $15 each. The club is located at 5040 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles. More details are available in the flyer below.
The Haitian American Food Bank is run by Dr. Herold Noel (pictured middle in the photo at right), a native Haitian who left a surgical practice to found the organization. He has conducted several relief missions to cities all across Haiti and ensures that the donated goods directly reach the people by transporting them himself.
Dr. Noel was in Haiti on a relief mission when the earthquake struck. Click here to read about that frightening experience, and click here to read about the first relief mission he took to Haiti following the quake.
Dr. Noel will make his fourth trip to Haiti since the earthquake struck in the coming weeks. While donations have increased due to support from the community, the Haitian American Food Bank still lacks adequate medicine and funds. To donate or volunteer with the organization, call 562.436.5500 or visit them at 521 W. 17th Street in Long Beach.
