The Traffic Circle will be temporarily closed starting Monday night as road work is completed along Pacific Coast Highway.

CalTrans will be working in the area starting at 8 p.m. Monday with the closure lasting until 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Public works confirmed that the CalTrans project was to be completed last weekend but went over the agency’s estimated time frame and will need to be completed the night of Sept. 10.

CalTrans has jurisdiction over Pacific Coast Highway since it is a state highway, but the city is charged with the maintenance of the actual traffic circle.

A much larger project is planned between the city and CalTrans to re-design the circle, but that project is not expected to begin until the winter of 2019.
