12:30pm | On Monday, November 28, at 11:55 a.m., Long Beach Police responded to a report of an injury traffic collision at Clark Avenue and Willow Street that ultimately resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers found that the collision involved four vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2005 Dodge Neon was traveling eastbound on Willow Street and approaching Clark Avenue at a high rate of speed, when for an unknown reason he veered left and collided with the center median. After colliding with the median, the vehicle became airborne and collided with three vehicles traveling westbound on Willow Street.
The driver of the Neon, identified only as a 23-year-old male from Lakewood until next of kin has been notified, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision and upon impact, was thrown to the rear passenger seat. Long Beach Fire personnel responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The drivers of two of the vehicles involved in this collision, a 54-year-old male from Buena Park and a 64-year-old male, also from Buena Park, were both transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle, a 50-year-old male from Downey, was uninjured.
Whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision is unknown and will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
