Six people were hurt after a tree branch collapsed on them at Whaley Park on Saturday shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Authorities are still not sure what caused the tree branch to fall on the park goers, according to Long Beach fire spokesman Brian Fisk.

Paramedics transported a mother and her daughter to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, Fisk said. Their ages were not immediately known.

Four others suffered minor injuries and refused treatment or transport, Fisk said.

Few other details were available, and it was not clear if other injured people were related.

This story has been updated with additional details on the people injured.
