Two people were arrested for driving under the influence during a standard DUI checkpoint hosted at Ocean Boulevard and Chestnut Place, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced today.
The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) held the operation from 7:00PM to 3:00AM on Saturday, July 23, a release issued today stated.
Out of the 565 vehicles screened, four field sobriety tests were performed,11 drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended, and seven citations were issued for unsafe driving.
In a statement, the LBPD reminded readers that drunk driving is preventable, and recommended using the California Office of Traffic Safety Designated Driver VIP mobile app to find businesses offering incentives as a way to celebrate their life-saving commitment.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To report a drunk driver, 9-1-1.
