Two bus passengers sustained minor injuries Wednesday night when the bus was rear-ended while at a stop in the area of Lakewood Boulevard and 23rd Street, authorities said.

Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel were dispatched to the scene at about 10:36PM and arrived at about 10:40PM to find that a Audi SUV had crashed into the bus on the driver’s side rear corner in the number 3 lane, said LBFD spokesman Jake Heflin.

Ten passengers were on the bus when the collision occurred, and two patients in their 30s to 40s were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Two additional patients, including the driver of the Audi, signed out against medical advice, Heflin said.

The Audi sustained significant front-end damage, and the air bags deployed.

Heflin said the accident is being investigated by the Long Beach Police Department. No further information is currently available. We will update this story as we learn more.
