Two drive-by shootings took place Friday evening in West Long Beach in which a man was injured in one of the shootings, according to Long Beach Police.

Police received a call at approximately 4 p.m. about a shooting near the 2000 block of West Spring Street. When officers arrived, they found a man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, police said.

Long Beach Fire crews transported the man to a local hospital, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a dark colored SUV fired shots at the man and drove off, according to police.

Later that evening, a call came in about 9:20 p.m. about shots being fired near the area of 4900 Block of Daisy Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located evidence that showed a shooting did take place, but did not find a victim, police said.

While checking in with local residents, a man told officers that a light colored SUV shot at him and then drove off, according to police.

Police said the motive for both shootings is not known at this time.
