Two Long Beach men were arrested this week, one in connection with multiple residential and auto burglaries that occurred last month in the city, and another on an outstanding murder warrant issued by the Sacrameno Police Department.

The Long Beach Police Department said in a statement Thursday that 24-year-old Michael Williams Jr. was arrested for multiple auto burglaries that occurred between July 9 and July 19 in an apartment structure on the 400 block of West Broadway.

The suspect was also connected to a July 21 residential burglary on the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue in which the homeowner was assaulted, police said.

While investigating the residential burglary, officers were able to recover evidence related to the earlier auto burglaries, police said. Evidence and interviews with witnesses and victims led police to Williams, who is on probation for burglary from a prior incident and remains in custody.

Upon further investigation, detectives served a search warrant on the 400 block of West Fifth Street and arrested 26-year-old Altereon Capone Jordan for an unrelated outstanding 2010 murder warrant issued by the Sacrameno Police Department. The LBPD transferred him to the custody of the Sacramento Police Department.

Detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday. The Office filed 12 counts of burglary, one count of assault with serious injury and one count of theft of a firearm against Williams, police said. His bail was set at $50,000, according to jail records.

Detectives are asking for possible additional unidentified victims and witnesses to come forward. Victims or witnesses of an auto burglary in the 400 block of West Broadway are asked to contact robbery detectives Mark Steenhausen or Tomas Diaz at 562-570-7464. Editor’ note: An earlier version of this article erroneously stated that both Williams and Jordan were arrested in connection with residential and burglaries. Jordan was arrested in connection with an unrelated outstanding warrant, and was not connected to the burglaries, accordng to the LBPD. The story has been updated.
