A woman found floating in the Alamitos Bay Thursday morning was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital by first responders, according to authorities.

The woman was found in the water around 11 a.m. along the 200 block of Marina Drive near The Crab Pot Restaurant and Bar, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Crews pulled the woman from the water, but she was unresponsive. Medics took her to a local hospital where she was determined to be dead, police said.

Identification of the woman will be handled by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, which will also determine how she died. Her name was not released Thursday.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the LBPD said it does not believe that foul play was involved.
