Authorities today identified a pedestrian who was struck by two vehicles and killed on the transition road from the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway to the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Long Beach.

Guillermo Ramirez, 47, died at the scene of his injury, which occurred about 10:00PM Monday, the coroner’s office reported. He is believed to have been a transient.

Both motorists stopped and were interviewed by officers, and neither was arrested, the California Highway Patrol reported. It was not immediately known why Ramirez was walking on the roadway.

The transition road was closed for about four hours while an investigation was conducted.

Both motorists stopped and were interviewed by officers, and neither was arrested, the CHP reported. It was not immediately known why the man was walking on the roadway.

The transition road was closed for about four hours while an investigation was conducted.
