UPDATE Wednesday, June 29, 4:50pm | A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons involved in the Tuesday, June 21, murder of a Long Beach man who was riding his bicycle when he was fatally shot.
The reward is being offered by the county of Los Angeles. The County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved on Tuesday Supervisor Don Knabe’s request that one be offered.
Cheryl Burnett, the communications director in Don Knabe’s district office in Long Beach, said the homicide detectives working the case have determined that the victim, 35-year-old Pablo Ortiz, had no known gang ties. But investigators still have no leads on a suspect, she said, and they believe that offering the reward could prompt potential witnesses who have thus far been reluctant to come forward to identify the individual or individuals responsible for Ortiz’s murder.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Long Beach Police Department by calling Homicide Detectives Peter Lackovic at 562-570-7365 and Greg Krabbe at 562-570-5534. The identity of callers will be kept confidential.
