4:00pm | Mayor Bob Foster released the following statement on last night’s shooting incident at the Federal Building in Long Beach:

Last night’s shooting was a tragic event that has shocked the greater Long Beach community.
I know the thoughts of this City are with the families and our partner law enforcement agencies who have been touched by this event. This morning, my office has been in contact with the Secretary Napolitano’s Office to convey our condolences and offer support to the affected employees and families in any way we can. Not least of which, LBPD will continue to provide the lead federal agencies with assistance as needed.
I want to thank the businesses, employees and residents of downtown Long Beach for your continued patience and cooperation as this investigation continues. All streets are open and we don’t anticipate additional closures.

In closing, I want to give special thanks to LBFD and LBPD for their professionalism in response to last night’s call in what was initially an uncertain and fluid situation. We are also very lucky to have first-rate medical facilities here in Long Beach, namely St. Mary Medical Center. The emergency staff team who treated yesterday’s victim is to be commended.

February 16, 7:00pm | According to a current report received by the Long Beach Post, all three injured persons involved in the shooting were Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) officers. It is unsure whether the attack was done in retaliation or was part of a deeper, personal predicament amongst the officers. As previously stated, Greggory Moore will have a full report as specific details arise.

6:30pm |

According to a bystander listening to police radio scans who spoke with the Long Beach Post, two people were shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer; one of those shot is dead. Long Beach Police Department officials have not confirmed this, however, police have confirmed that one officer was injured and transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center; the officer’s condition not available.
