Updated 11:00pm Sunday | The head of Samuel Herr was discovered Sunday by authorities, completing the search for the remains of the 26-year old who is believed to have been killed and dismembered more than one week ago.

Authorities are holding 26-year old Daniel Wozniak and charged him with two counts of murder on Friday. Wozniak allegedly shot and killed Herr in Los Alamitos before dismembering him and leaving the remains in El Dorado Park in Long Beach. Wozniak is also believed to have killed 23-year old Juri Kibuishi by luring her to Herr’s apartment with a text message from Herr’s phone. Wozniak allegedly then killed Kibuishi and removed her clothes to fake a sexual assault.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Herr served in Afghanistan.

10:45pm | Local authorities swarmed around the Nature Center in Long Beach’s El Dorado Park on Friday, as they searched for body parts of 26-year old Costa Mesa resident Samuel Herr, who was murdered in Los Alamitos on May 21.

Daniel Wozniak was arrested for the murder in Huntington Beach on Wednesday. Authorities say he led them to Herr’s body, which was dismembered. Herr’s left arm and right hand were found in the Nature Center. His head has not yet been found.

Wozniak was charged with two counts of murder – for the killings of Herr and 23-year old Juri Kibuishi – on Friday, the day he was to be married to his fiancée in Long Beach.

Costa Mesa authorities led the search at El Dorado Park and were assisted by officers from the Long Beach Police Department.

Sources say that Wozniak grew up and attended elementary school in Long Beach as a child, though there has been no confirmation. He and Herr lived in the same apartment complex and allegedly lured him to the Los Alamitos Training Base with financial motives. Herr was killed there and his torso was found on site. Wozniak apparently then took some parts of Herr to the Nature Center.

Wozniak also allegedly lured 23-year old Juri Kibuishi to Herr’s apartment with a text message from Herr’s cell phone. Wozniak then shot and killed Kibuishi and removed her clothes in what authorities believe was an attempt to stage a sexual motive. The body of Kibuishi was discovered on May 22.

Large portions of El Dorado Park and surrounding streets such as Willow and Spring Street were closed on Friday due to heavy police activity.
