Forget answering the phone at 3:00 a.m., how about answering the red phone during breakfast?  Much has been made of Hillary Clinton’s “3:00 a.m. Phone Call” ad asking voters who they would rather have answering the mythical Red Phone when it rings with an international crisis at 3:00 a.m.—suggesting she has more foreign policy and international experience than her rival Barack Obama.

But an exchange earlier this week in a diner in Scranton, Pennsylvania had me wondering if Obama would even interrupt his breakfast to take a call.  It has been well reported that some of Obama’s longest mentors and advisors are pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel in that conflict; last week the chief political advisor to the head of the terrorist group Hamas endorsed Obama during a radio interview.  So with that background present during Jimmy Carter’s visit with Hamas terrorist leaders a reporter asked Obama a question while he was eating sausage and waffles in the diner with Pennsylvania Senator Casey.

Obama’s response?  “Why can’t I just eat my waffle?”  Asked again, Obama said, “Just let me eat my waffle.”

I know, I know, I have read the left-wing blogs and Obama supporters, “Can’t a man just eat his breakfast?”  If you want to eat a meal in peace with no interruptions then do not do so as the leading contender for the nomination of a major political party to be President.  If you want the photo-op and the press of being a normal guy enjoying sausage and waffles (and who doesn’t?) then deal with what comes with it—the press you invited to tag along!

There have been a lot of questions that Obama has skirted the last month and all except his most ardent supporters are beginning to take notice.  With the nomination seemingly in hand he appears to feel he does not need to answer the questions to get his party’s nomination in Denver this summer.  But he, and the Democrats, should be very aware that these questions become much more frequent and much higher in volume if he does become the Democratic nominee for President.

The campaign trail is long and arduous and it exposes many sides of those running.  With the length and arduousness of the campaign between Clinton and Obama more and more exposure is occurring—particularly of the newcomer to national politics.  America still does not really know Obama, not like they know Clinton.  Because of this a lot of questions are being asked now that the glamour and mystique of his persona are beginning to wear.  People now are wondering who is the person behind the persona?

The mythical 3:00 a.m. phone call does not happen that often, I imagine having not had that opportunity; but the phone calls do happen at breakfast time—frequently.  Can the answer really be, “Just let me eat my waffle?”

You can Google it and it is all over, here is link to The Hotline column:  Just Let Me Eat My Waffle , here is YouTube of the exchange put up by Clinton supporter Waffles Look Good!

3:00 a.m. Phone Call Ad (if a phone rings in the Clinton house at 3:00 a.m. and a woman answers, would it be Hillary?)  from the Clinton site.

I’m hungry from watching that video, where in Long Beach can I get a waffle like that?
