Let it rain, Long Beach.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an advisory for a possible storm and a sharp drop in temperatures in the southland this weekend, as a result of a storm system moving in from the Gulf of Alaska.

The storm is predicted to arrive in two stages. The first wave of rain will occur Saturday night, and should likely be over my midnight. The second wave will arrive as showers on Sunday morning.

The rain is expected to be “not too heavy” with a quarter-inch to three-quarters of an inch throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Temperatures are predicted to drop between 10 and 13 degrees on Saturday and another 6 degrees on Sunday.

The NWS forecasts sunny skies today and highs of 76 in Long Beach, but cooler weather will be constant throughout next week.
