A 25 year-old Long Beach man who was shot early Monday morning died from his wounds Tuesday. Police say that motive for the shooting is unknown, but it is not being investigated as gang related.

The victim, identified as Martin Contreras, was transported to the hospital after police arrived to a residence in the 1500 block of Arlington St. at about 1:20AM Monday and found that he had been shot in the torso. He was listed in serious condition until about 3:30AM Tuesday, when police were notified of his death as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the suspect were involved in a dispute prior to the shooting, but no other information is available on either the suspect or what transpired before the incident.
