Firefighters are at the scene of a fire at an auto parts store at 1825 E. I St. in Wilmington, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
“The fire continues but crews are making good progress,” Stewart stated Sunday. “Fires in densely packed auto yards present access and water penetration challenges; heavy streams with copious water from multiple angles is required and is in place.”
Stewart said the fire is under control but will take time to fully extinguish. No injuries were reported.
The fire was first reported by LAFD at 3:20 p.m.
The smoke could be seen from North Long Beach while wind pushed it to the city’s Westside.
