5:00pm | A 26-year old Long Beach resident has been arrested for the 2006 murder of her boyfriend’s 2-year old son.
Jennifer Garcia was the girlfriend of the boy’s father, and also babysat the child. Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the 4400 block of Lakewood Boulevard on November 16, 2006 after a call that a child had fallen down a flight of stairs.
The child was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and placed on life support. The decision was made to remove him from life support the next day.
Authorities took Garcia into custody this morning in the city of Stanton, after an extensive investigation conducted by Detectives Malcolm Evans and Scott Lasch, along with assistance from multiple agencies and overseen by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
