Police say they arrested a woman who fired a gun while she was alone inside her Bixby Knolls home Sunday evening.

Long Beach police said they originally responded to a home on Falcon Avenue near Tehachapi Drive around 8 p.m. following reports of a woman screaming, LBPD spokesperson Brandon Fahey said. Upon arrival police found bullet casings in the home and determined a 45-year-old female resident fired a gun for an unknown reason, Fahey said.

Officers seized the gun at the scene, Fahey said. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.

The woman was home alone, Fahey said, and she was arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm. Her bail was set at $35,000.
