12:15pm | A woman was shot and killed in a downtown parking garage by a male suspect that abducted her after an apparent family dispute this morning, authorities say. The Press-Telegram is reporting that the suspect shot and killed himself in Woodland Hills shortly after. Authorities believe that the suspect and victim had a relationship and a child together, but could not confirm whether or not they were married.
Details are few at the moment, but police responded at around 7:30am to an abduction call at a 200 W. Ocean apartment building, then to a shots fired call in a nearby parking garage, where the female victim was found dead from a gunshot wound.
Believing the suspect to still be in the area, the SWAT team was called in and set up a perimeter around the scene. Around 12:00pm, the suspect was shot in Woodland Hills, apparently turning the gun on himself.
Los Angeles authorities confirmed that a shooting occurred in the Topanga area of Woodland Hills and the victim was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. The Press-Telegram is reporting that the suspect died, but authorities could not confirm that to the lbpost.com.
UPDATE: Los Angeles Police Department spokesmen say that LAPD officers did fire during the officer-involved shooting that wounded the suspect at Victory and Owensmouth in Woodland Hills, although they could not say whether or not the suspect’s injuries were due to his own gun or those of the officers.
