2:30pm | A woman is in serious condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the upper body after an incident near the 6300 block of Paramount last night, authorities say.
Officer Israel Ramirez of the Long Beach Police Department said that officers responded to a call of “Shots fired” around 11:00pm on Tuesday evening, when they discovered the injured woman. She was transported to a local hospital.
Officer Ramirez said that an argument between two groups of people escalated and someone produced a handgun, firing several shots. He said there is not yet a determination whether or not the shooting may have been gang-related, and that the Violent Crimes Division is investigating the case.
