A woman was stabbed Wednesday evening in West Long Beach, and police are still looking for the suspect, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police responded to the stabbing around 6:25 p.m. in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Hayes Avenue. There, officers located a woman who had been stabbed in the lower body, the LBPD said.

Officers rendered aid to the woman until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported her to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body, police said.

According to the LBPD, the victim was involved in a physical altercation a few blocks south in the area of Anaheim and I Streets with a woman she knew. The fight escalated and the woman stabbed the victim in the lower body using a knife, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, according to the LBPD.
